Flat Us - a self portrait

Mai-Liis, a self-taught California mixed media artist, has been doing art ever since she could handle a pencil, scissors, and paper. She designs jewelry, collage, art dolls, and assemblage, always working from the inside out...always on a subconscious level. She says, "I am both mystified and delighted by the images which appear before me on my work-table."

Her advice to would-be artists is to stop worrying. Shut out every negative message you may ever have heard. Surround yourself with things you love...along with a variety of art supplies, and just start. It doesn't matter what....just start...and do not stop until it "tell's" you it is finished.
